The Mark(ings) of Zorro
"As democracy is perfected, the office of president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron."

Another icon of my life passes

Johnny Carson died today. While I was not a die-hard Tonight show fan, I did watch Carson enough over 30 years to make him a part of my life. Letterman, Leno and all the rest of that genre of TV host do not approach the rapport Carson created with his audience. With his passing the world changes a little. A link with the past is gone.

I hope he got a big, "Heeeeerrrreeee'sssss JOHNNY!!" as he passed through the Pearly Gate. We'll not see his like again for a while, I think.
