About 8 years ago, I stumbled upon this little browser named Opera which was built by a bunch of Norwegians. Over the years I have hung with Opera as my browser of choice as I moved from one O/S (Windows 3.1 was where I started.) to another. However, there comes a time when one has to reexamine what has become so familiar. Of late, I've been having problems with Opera. I upgraded (if that is the right word) to Windows XP earlier this month. When I reinstalled Opera on the new operating system, I noticed that there were...problems. Opera is hanging on some web sites and some tasks. I haven't really opened the hood to see if there is something wrong with my set-up or if the problem is in the way Opera meshes with XP. All I know is that there is a problem. So, today, as part of my new pro-active way of dealing with life in general, I d/l'd Firefox. And summabitch if it doesn't work as advertised so far. I am somewhat impressed. As I understand it, this is actually cutting into some of Explorer's turf, and that is good. I am sorry to say that, if Firefox keeps working like it is now, Opera will lose a user, and that is bad. Anyhow, I will try to keep all up-to-date on how Firefox is doing. Should you want to experiment on your own, you can download Firefox by clicking here.
