I have a new quote at the top of the blog courtesy of my middle daughter (Thanks, sweetie!). It will stay in place for at least the next four years (assuming that I keep this up for the next four years.) There is another quote out there, whose provenance and exact wording I have long forgotten, but it goes something like, "In a democracy, we get the government we deserve." (note: I just went out to find out who originally said this for proper attribution, but I couldn't find an original source. It appears that this has become a bit of folk wisdom that is assumed to have always been with us.) This election begins to prove it. You know, maybe the generation who elected John Kennedy was the best this country has ever produced, and we, their descendants, are, somehow, less than they were. On the other hand, maybe this was just an aberration which will be rectified in four years. Of course, the problem there is that, in four years, the damage this person could do might be irreparable. We've tossed the dice; let's hope they don't come up "snake-eyes" for us.
