The Mark(ings) of Zorro
"As democracy is perfected, the office of president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron."

where our original Kerry-Edwards sign was yesterday

When we went to bed last night, there was a very tasteful Kerry/Edwards lawn sign about three feet from the edge of the walk. When we (OK, she...) went out to get the papers this morning, this is the sight which greeted her. Next door, our neighbor's Republican signs had not been touched. Our across-the-street-and-
one-house-up neighbors had their Democrat signs removed during the night as well.

So, I went down to the local Democratic Headquarters to get another sign. It seems that the local Republicans (or at least a subset of them) are making it a crusade to remove Kerry's and other Democrat candidates's signs. All they had left were some signs for the Democrat candidate for County Freeholder. Fortunately, these still have Kerry's name on them, so I put it up in defiance of our local storm troopers.

At the Barnes & Noble where I work, we have to go through the Current Events section a couple times a day to undo the ad hoc censorship that primarily can be laid at the doorstep of the Conservative Right. I have to say that sales of the anti-Kerry "Unfit for Command" have fallen off spectacularly. I am actually pretty sure that most of the sales of this book were to to rabid right who just wanted to read something that reinforced their own warped world view.
