First, we have the release of the book of lies titled "Unfit for Command", and now there is a new book (I can't remember the title) from the rabid right which states that the outsourcing of jobs is actually the fault of liberals. They must think that the American public is plain fucking stupid. While they may be almost correct, I think this goes a little too far in stretching the average persons credulity. However, it is consistent with the right's well established campaign of disinformation; Big Brother is alive and well and has registered as a Republican. Of course the truth about the outsourcing of American jobs is that it is a function of the conservative mindset. Once we had an idealized concept of corporations as being responsible, caring citizens who worked for the welfare of their employees, communities and nation. Now, of course, we know this to be absolutely false. Corporations are, at best, psychotic beings who have only their perceived self-interest as their guide, and the people who run most corporations tend to absorb that mindset until they too are, at best, psychotic. For the next two months, the rhetoric on both sides of the political spectrum is going to get nasty. I, however, have to believe that the majority of my fellow citizens are not part of the political extremes. I have to believe that, in their hearts, they are decent, caring people who want everybody to have good lives. It is, therefore, to this center that we must address ourselves. It is to this center that we must tailor our message in terms of compassion and fairness. It is this center that the Democrats must win in November if we are to show George Bush the door.
