The Mark(ings) of Zorro
"As democracy is perfected, the office of president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron."

by El Zorro Viejo (aka; Jim)

This has not been a great day...

Well, actually it started out pretty good. Dulce and I went out to run some errands. We went to the pool people and paid them for opening the pool, and, even though it is only June, we set up a date for them to come in and close it up. I'll pay for opening and closing, but I am still able to do the weekly cleaning (note: as soon as I hit the lottery that little chore becomes a thing of the past.) Then we went to the Toy Store (aka Home Depot) where we got most of the stuff on Grammy's list. I'm going to be making looms for her campers this summer. (Don't get me going...I'll go into the "campers" sometime when I haven't just sucked down a couple of vodka-on-the-rocks.) Then we went and ate "Chinese" (the local Chinese buffet restaurant) which is a high point in Dulce's existance. After that, we came home and went swimming for about an hour until I had to get out to get ready for work. And that is when things downhill.

I get into work and I find through the store grapevine that one of my collegues has been promoted. That means that I've been passed over...again. Maybe it is time for me to chat with a legal eagle about a possible age discrimination suit. I know that I do my job damn well...and I know that I have all the necessary skills, knowledge and ability to actually run a store...ahhh, shit...it ain't worth it. It's like I'm caught in a bad dream. Damn.

So, I've had enough booze to mellow me out for awhile. Tomorrow I put the window air conditioner in the baby's room. Can't afford the $5K the a/c people quoted for a new central air unit for the upstairs, so we'll have to go with a couple window units this summer. Shit, by the time we are able to replace the lately defunct central air unit, I'll have enough window units to cool half of the town. I have said it before, and I'll say it again: it sucks to be broke.

Time for bed. More later today. Ciao.
