The Mark(ings) of Zorro
"As democracy is perfected, the office of president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron."

I Am So Psyched; or, It Doesn't Take Much to Make Me Happy

I did it. I actually went to Costco and bought one of the 256Meg Compact Flash Cards today. This is for my Lyra MP3 player. My sweetie got me this little device almost 4 years ago as a birthday present in days when we were more flush...sorta...Anyway, the most memory I've had is the original 48Meg card that came with it. When I originally received this present, I thought about expanding the memory, but, four years ago, flash memory cards were more than a little expensive. Upgrading to 128Meg would have cost more than the original price of the Lyra. So I put it off, and put it off, and put it off. Until now. $50 for 256Meg is my price point!

I just put my current 39 favorite tracks on this little card...that's a little over 3 3/4 hours of my favorite music...and I still have 110Meg left over. I'm ecstatic!! I know--it isn't and IPOD with 20Gig of memory. And it's a flat file in that you have to scroll and scroll if you are looking for a particular song. Who cares?? I sure as hell don't! I can actually see me getting at least two more of these cards...maybe even three of 'em. Then I could have one classical, one ambient/new age/trance/electronic/etc., one rock and one a mixture of the genres. So, while an IPod would be nice, I am more than happy with my little Lyra and 256Meg of commercial free music. This little corner of my life is now pretty good. *happy sigh*
