Moveon.org and a number of other groups will be holding a press conference and rally tomorrow. Their purpose is to urge Congress to censure the current occupant of the Oval Office. I not only "signed" the petition, I composed the following to be delivered to Congress along with my signature: When a President lies to the American people, he should be censured; Bill Clinton stands as an example of this. However, President Clinton’s “lie” did not cost the lives of fellow American citizens. Mr. Bush has lied to us about his intentions vis-à-vis Iraq since the very beginning of his term in office. His “lie” has cost the lives of both American citizens and foreign nationals who had nothing to do with the regime in Iraq other than having the misfortune to live there. At the very least for justice to be served, Mr. Bush has to be severely censured and forced, as part of his censure, to admit to the American people that he knowingly and deliberately misled them. If enough of us send similar comments to Congress, perhaps we will see some action. If not, then, come September, all those Republican incumbents should be attacked for their lack of action. One of the reasons Clinton was censured was because the Democrats had lost control of the Congress. If we can prove to the independent voters that the Republicans are behaving in an unjust and un-American manner, perhaps we could recapture the Congress. And then Mr. Bush will have to do some real fancy tap-dancing to keep his butt out of the proverbial sling... However, I digress... Moveon.org want to send the following letter to your Senators and congressman over your signature: TO: (Your Representative and Senators)You can find out more and get your name on one of these by clicking here
