May the new year make all your wishes come true... We just said good-bye to our last guest (10 at the table ) and are congratulating ourselves on a very successful New Year's Eve party. The food was (he said modestly) superb, the drink was also all one could ask for in quality, quantity and diversity, and the conversations were engaging. Couldn't ask for more. Now, I have come to the conclusion that, for indoor parties where people are expected to interact in some meaningful manner, 10 is about all this house can handle. More than that and it becomes a mob scene. The granddaughter is going to have her 2nd birthday party here, and I'm afraid that it will be one of those cheek to jowl affairs. Hopefully, I'll be working that day (in January) so I won't have to deal with it. The urchin and I will have our own birthday party when all the crowds are not around. But I digress... We did not have loud music and we did not drink to excess. For those who think a successful party must include those two elements, ours, then, must have been a failure. Except I had a great time. And, I must admit that Bush did not come up in conversation even once. This gaggle of nice conservative upper-middle class Americans had nothing to say about their president...at least nothing that hasn't been said a number of times before by others. I do not think this bodes well for Mr. Bush. So, once again I wish you all the most happy New Year and may you all fulfill your resolutions and may all your wishes be filled...
