The Mark(ings) of Zorro
"As democracy is perfected, the office of president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron."
H.L. Mencken

What's the Matter with Kansas?

What is wrong with this picture?

So, I went to the polls yesterday to do my civic duty, but, when I got into the voting booth, I was confronted with a ballot which had no Democrats running for state office. Well, that's not entirely true, there was one, but he was someone I had never heard of...he had not, to my knowledge, run any sort of a campaign. So, by default, the Republicans keep their senate and two house seats from my district. This is not good. If the Democrats want to win back the Presidency...no, rather wrest it back from the usurper who claims that title now...they are going to have to do it by winning the hearts and loyalty of the people through local elections. That means they have to have a presence in all local elections and, if nothing else, the candidates have to hammer at the same message across the country.

The problem, of course, is that the Democrats have yet to figure out what their message should be. The national candidates out there now pretty much cover the slightly-right-of-center to far left of the political spectrum. What we don't have is an FDR to focus our party on an achievable agenda, and we need that desperately. We need a leader who can come up with a workable ideology and action platform based on that ideology. What we need is somebody who will elevate us like Roosevelt and Kennedy did.

I've got a draft working on this...I just need a little more time...General Clark?? Are you listening??
