The Republicans are beginning to tweak to the idea that jobs and the economy should be priority one. Does anyone remember Clinton's battle cry from 1992? I do, and I find it refreshingly appropriate that Shrub stands a good chance of being a one term president for the same reason his father was. I find it poetically just that, after causing the economy to go south by bad mouthing prosperity for most of the Clinton administration, he finds himself hoist on his own petard. I find myself leaning more and more towards General Wesley Clark as my choice to evict the Shrub from the White House. I want to have a real live role model as my President for awhile. I want somebody who embodies many of the best qualities of our culture to be running the show. I want someone who is strong, but truly compassionate, to be holding the reins of power for the next eight years. Even better, run Wesley Clark for President and have one of the other strong Democrats (Kerry or Dean are my choices) as Veep. Then Clark (who as a military man knows how to delegate responsibility) could concentrate on leadership while leaving the daily nuts and bolts business to his Veep. I know that it is a somewhat forlorn hope to wish for a true sharing of power between the President and his Vice President (I'm not sure how it works in the current administration: my guess is that the true seat of power is Cheney, but I could be wrong.)
