Yesterday a customer came up to the information desk at the bookstore and asked for three books. These were all economics texts and, between the three of 'em, her potential bill would have been slightly over $190. Unfortunately, we didn't have any of these books on our shelves in the store; we would have to order them for the customer. Then, while I'm in the process of putting the necessary information into the computer, she asks what the online prices would be. Well, in this case www.bn.com would be significantly cheaper. So, she says to me, "well, order them anyway. I'll go over them here and then get them online." She's going to do her shopping here and then go online to actually order what she wants. I'll be left with three large Economics texts that nobody will want in the next 3 years. One of these days Corporate is going to have to make changes on the way we do customer ordering. 'Nuff said!
