OK, since last I wrote anything here, a couple things have transpired. ( The following is in no particular chronological order; they are just things that have happened in the past 10 days (more or less)). First, and most important to me, my sweetie is home for the rest of the summer...except when she goes to Maine to visit family for 5 days (next Friday) and the week she teaches future Montessori teachers later this month. However, having her nere most of the time means that many chores that have been on indefinite hold can be put into motion. I had forgotten how much supervision a toddler, especially a smart toddler, requires. Except for her nap time, my little Dulce pretty much occupies my time and precludes doing much more than routine housekeeping tasks. Anything that requires my attention for more than a couple of minutes at the most is a recipe for disaster. The little darling already makes a bee-line for the stairs as soon as she senses she is not under active surveillence. So, now with my life partner home with me, we can split the child watching duties and actually begin work on a number of outdoor projects which need doing. On Thursday, the 3rd, the pool liner people showed up. By 6pm, the old liner and (more importantly, the very nasty old water) was gone and a new liner had been installed in the pool. This process was a revalation to me. I had no idea that the sides of lined pools were made out of galvanized steel panels. Our panels were showing some signs of rust, so, at the liner guy's recommendation, we have swathed the pool sides in foam insulation which is supposed to reduce condensation on the walls and also keep any developing rust from puncturing the new liner. My sweetie did a great job, btw, picking out this liner. The pool hasn't looked so good in years. Because of the deterioration of the old liner and the even worse deterioration in our financial situation last year, we didn't open the pool last summer. The decision to go for the new liner was made, in part, in the hope that I would get my promotion and the attendant raise in income. This has not happened yet, in part, because our District Manager had actually decided to resign this position and move back into store management. He hade this decision some time ago, but only announced it to the world last week. So, now I have to wait until our regional director gets her act together and decides to get our staff back up to T.O. strength. I vacillate between optimism and pessimism. But, what I have really come to understand is that I have to start rebuilding my capital on my own. And that means that I am going to have even less time to do fun things like this. I need either longer days or I need to force myself to manage my time a little more efficiently. I think I'll keep praying for a 36 hour day...*grin*. There is much more, but tonight is my 24th wedding anniversary, and the other person involved seems to think I should be spending time with her rather than sitting here writing for the Blog. So, I will call it a night and try to get more in tomorrow morning before I toddle off to work...Good night, good night...parting is such sweet sorrow...(I think that is how the quote goes....)
