The Mark(ings) of Zorro
"As democracy is perfected, the office of president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron."
H.L. Mencken

The Web is an Astounding place

OK, that is a given, but I have found one of those little gems which deserve as wide a circulation as possible. This one comes courtesy of Anne the Anthropologist (link is in the list to left). The site in question is the The Proceedings of the Old Bailey London 1674 to 1834, and it is truly interesting. While most histories deal with big events and the makers and shakers of the time, this site deals with the plight of the common man during that time. I really recommend it to one and all; I think you'll find it as spellbinding as I have found it to be.
