Now, as I was saying, I am pretty easily amused/pleased. It doesn't take much. Like having my favorite browser work with my Blogging provider. (I want to say Blogging software, but I don't run anything on my machine except the scripting that brings up this text-entry window, so it obviously isn't software. Blogging service, that's what it is, I guess.) The down side is that it still won't work with my online broker. They demand either Netscape or MSIE versions 4 or higher. They won't accept the fact that Opera is, in many respects, a better piece of software than either of the two majors. Oh well, one small fly in the ointment! I have something else that makes me very happy. I scored two great mugs from the coffee shop yesterday. They were on the "toss" shelf as being broken and unsalable. I asked if I could have them rather than see them tossed into the trash. I was told that, as soon as they were zeroed out of inventory, I could take them. Now, these are $15 stainless steel vacuum thermos construction mugs. One of them had a broken handle and the other had the lifting tab on its lid about 80% broken off. You can see where I'm going here. Take the two mugs, move the good top from the one with the broken handle to the one with the broken tab and Voila! one perfectly good mug. But it gets better. Seems that the handle wasn't really broken. there are two flanges welded on to the side of the cup, and two screws go through the flanges to hold the handle on the cup. Well, the top flange was slightly mispositioned, so the screw had missed the hole and, consequently, the handle was loose. When I figured this out, I grabbed my trusty pliers, gave a couple yanks and Voila! another good mug. So, now I have two great coffee mugs, and I got them for free! Made my week!! See? I told you it doesn't take much to make me happy!
