OK, here's how this "war" is going to play out. The Iraqi army will fold after only scattered token resistance. When the smoke clears, it will be found that Hussein did not actually have any weapons of mass destruction. He wanted them, sure, but he didn't, as yet have any. He had the ability to produce a couple gallons of chemical agents and possibly the ability to produce some biological agents, but he did not have a reliable way to deliver either of them outside his own country's borders. In other words, the putative reason for this whole exercise will turn out to be false. Once we "win" this war, the true cost of this exercise will begin to become apparent. First, we will become even more hated by most of the Muslim world. The crazies that this religion seems to breed will start coming out of the walls. There will be a large, visible and exposed American presence in Iraq which will become a magnet for these people. Suicide bombers will guarantee that we have a weekly body count of American dead. Anybody remember watching the bodies come home from Vietnam for close to 10 years? This is going to be similar. We may not lose 50,000 men this time, but we will lose a significant number of killed and wounded sons and daughters. So, in the years to come, remember just exactly what George Bush has done for us. It will have been Bush, and he alone, who will have mired us in another long, drawn-out, no-win war in Asia. And all because he felt he had to finish what his father started: some sort of perverse filial loyalty or something. And should anyone actually be reading this, don't send me all sorts of email telling me how evil Saddam really is. I grant that he is a very bad man whose death would make this world a better place. I simply think that this was the wrong way to eliminate him.
