My baby was sick today. Seems her father brought home some nasty germ and passed it along to his daughter. When she arrived at Granddad's, she was not feeling at all well. It is a mark of what a good baby she is that, even though it was very obvious that she wasn't well, she still tried to be a happy child. My son and daughter-in-law do not know what a good baby they are raising. She is an absolute delight. On other fronts, I see that the Republicans are ramming through the Homeland Security bill. Somehow, I think that this is going to come back to haunt us. What this is supposed to do is give the government the power to circumvent certain protections afforded us by the Constitution. Of course, this is not what the Republicans ( Bush) tells us. Oh no. They tell us that this is necessary in order to protect us from "the evil ones." I wonder, though, how we managed to do without this bill and this department throughout World War II and the Cold War. No, I think this is a step down that famous slippery slope, and I worry that my granddaughter will inherit a world where the government has more power than it had for most of her grandfather's life. This, I feel, is not a good thing.
