Happy Thanksgiving! I don't have the energy or the inspiration to do much more than respond to some things I've found elsewhere. Why am I so lacking? Well, it's because I'm in the grasp of a really nasty little virus. Specifiically, I have a "code in the node" which is making my life miserable. I can't breath, I'm constantly thirsty, I wander around coughing and sneezing. My head feels like a basketball stuffed with mud. My eyes keep watering. Frankly, I am not a happy camper. Fortunately, we are only having a total of 6 for dinner today, so it won't be a huge brawl. And, as a first, we are planning to eat around 5pm rather than the traditional 2pm (which always morphed into 3:30 for some reason or other...), so I'm not being frantic yet. I have the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade on the tube as I write, and I find it is the first thing I want to comment about. For some reason, Katie and Matt seem to be doing a series of commercials as they talk about the parade. Seems every float and balloon has a corporate sponsor who is doing this for the marketing opportunity. Plus, seems that almost every float has somebody singing something. This is not the Macy's parade I remember from my youth, and I'm sure that its commercialization has not improved it...'Nuff said. Deer in NJ: My wife says she almost hit a "huge buck" not 500 yards from our local (downtown) post office. We do have a park that follows a brook which runs through town. He probably came in from the country via that route. What worries me is that he will bring his harem along with him now that he has found a whole new smorgasbord to browse through. That means that my landscaped, and unfenced, front yard is suddenly at risk. Rats with hooves: my thought is to reduce the herd back to its historical levels by any and all means possible! And this is not just to preserve my shrubs. Deer/vehicle interactions are one of the the reasons we, here in the Garden State, enjoy (hah!> some of the highest automobile insurance rates in the country. Let the bambi-huggers deal with that... That's enough for now...y'all have a great Turkey Day and try not to eat too much! Postscript: My Haloscan code was corrupted again. I don't know what is going on here. Something keeps stripping out the Javascript identifiers. I have replaced them again for the second time this week. I am somewhat mystified about this...And now it seems I'm missing a <Blogger> tag. Boggles my mind...really.
