It appears that they have caught the Maryland sniper...and he isn't some nutcase white guy. Nor is he of Arabic descent. These are both good things since both of those groups (white guys and Arabs) have had more than their share of bad press in the past couple of years. No, it appears that evil is proving to be unbiased and an equal opportunity employer. This guy, if he is in fact the right one, happens to be black. And his motive, if reports of demands for ten million dollars are correct, would appear to be simple venal greed. It is somewhat awe inspiring that he was tracked down at all. His trail led as far west as Tacoma, Washington and as far south as, possibly, Montgomery, Alabama. How the sniper taskforce stitched together the clues and tips that led to this person will someday make exciting reading, I think. My daughter, until she moved to Seattle in May, lived in Tacoma. This guy could very well have begun his career as a cold-blooded killer out there instead of in Maryland. That is scary!
